For the love of history and art.
I see the beauty in so many things — from the obvious elegance of a flower to the exposed grace of bare trees. I also see it in everyday things that were never meant to be collected: paper ephemera; old notes written on crumbling paper; antique postcards; old sketches; vintage box labels; and the eye-catching design of magazine covers. Advertising, especially in the golden age of illustration circa 1880-1930s, gave beauty to the most mundane things. From a 1902 sales receipt embossed with flourishing text to the colorful design of a box for soap, there was so much beauty in the everyday.
My love of the Art Nouveau movement and late 20th-century illustration has informed much of my personal style and collections. With Japanese woodblock prints, Sumi-e watercolors, and the hand-painted porcelain of that time, the focus on nature and creating a space that brings joy was incredibly inspiring. I wish to bring that aesthetic to On The Wall Vintage and Fine Arts.
